Prisoner's Cinema

Prisoner’s Cinema is the phenomenon of ‘seeing’ light without light actually entering the eye. It gets its name from prisoners confined in dark cells that have seen this light show effect. The scientific name is called a Phosphene, caused by stimulation of the retina. These coloured shapes can result when we rub our eyes and seem to see patterns appear while our eyes are closed.
